      Quarta-feira passada dia 26 de março eu fui assistir a Orquestra de Medicina da NUI Galway na sala de Aula Maxima dentro do Quadrangle. A orquestra foi criada há quatro anos atrás e todos pareciam muito felizes com o quanto cresceu o espaço. Durante a apresentação também teve uma apresentação de NUI Galway Choral Scholars, foi muito emocionante. Além disso, é muito interessante ver a manifestação da cultura local, durante a programação eles tocaram várias músicas tradicionais. Foram quase duas horas de apresentação.

      O Evento contou com a participação do rabequista de música tradicional Frankie Gavin. A orquestra é dirigida pelo músico Carl Hession e o coral pelo Mark Duley. Foi uma noite para voltar com o coração cheio de alegria, adorei poder ver iniciativas culturais dentro da faculdade de medicina me lembrou o FAMED Cultural que está sendo organizado em Rio Grande na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande, é legal pensar que talvez em algum momento a sala vai encher na minha Faculdade de medicina. Encontrei um vídeo que fala da Orquestra e que explica que se tornou uma atividade curricular para os alunos, eles ganham créditos participando da orquestra.

       Outro fato legal sobre o evento é que ele foi organizado para ajudar a arrecadar fundos para a Voluntary Services Abroad Society, uma sociedade organizada pelos alunos do quarto ano da faculdade de medicina da NUIG, fundada em 1977 pelo Dr. Dom Colbert, ele envia grupos de estudantes voluntários para o mundo. Claro que além de aproveitar a orquestra e o coral foi bom poder aproveitar e ajudar a Soc.

      Last Wednesday on March 26 I went to see the Orchestra of Medicine of the NUI Galway in the Aula Maxima a room inside the Quadrangle. The orchestra was created four years ago and everyone seemed very happy with how increased the orchestra. During the presentation also had a presentation from NUI Galway Choral Scholars and was very exciting. Moreover, it is very interesting to see the manifestation of local culture, while programming they played several traditional songs. Were nearly two hour presentation.

      The event had the participation of fiddler Frankie Gavin, he plays traditional music. The orchestra is directed by musician Carl Hession and coral by Mark Duley. It was a night to come back with a heart full of joy, I loved being able to see cultural initiatives within the medical school. And reminded me of the Cultural FAMED being organized in the Rio Grande Federal University of Rio Grande, my university in Brazil, it is nice to think that maybe at some point of the time the room will fill in my School of medicine. I found a video that talks about the Orchestra and explaining that became a curricular activity for students, they earn credits by participating in the orchestra.

       Another nice fact about this event is that it was organized to help raise funds for Voluntary Services Abroad Society, a society organized by the students of the fourth year of medical school of NUIG, founded in 1977 by Dr. Don Colbert, he sends groups volunteer students to the world. Of course in addition to enjoy the orchestra and choir was good to enjoy and help the soc.

The meeting with the Amabassador from Brazil

 

     No final de semana todos os alunos brasileiros que estão em Galway receberam uma mensagem sobre uma Reunião com o novo Embaixador Brasileiro H.E. Mr Afonso José Sena Cardoso que queria ter uma conversa com os estudantes brasileiros na segunda-feira sobre o programa Ciência Sem Fronteiras. A conversa foi interessante e necessária porque existem várias falhas de comunicação entre a Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), e por consequência muitas falhas no programa,  mas acredito que a cada obstáculo está ficando melhor. Mas para eu que estou chegando está tudo funcionando bem e não tive problemas relacionados com a minha estadia, só o contato realmente demora muito.

      Ele falou também sobre o futuro do Brasil estar em nossos ombros. Que o que aprendermos fora do Brasil tornará nosso país melhor na nossa volta. E que o que fazemos aqui define a "cara do Brasil" para o mundo. Ambassador of Brazil

      

The meeting with the Amabassador from Brazil

      In the weekend all of brazilian's studentes that was in Galwayreceived a message about a meeting with a new Brazilian Embassador H.E. Mr Afonso José Sena Cardoso. He is going to talk about the brazilian Program Science Without Borders. The conversation was interesting and necessary because there are several failures of communication between the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior-CAPES (is a government agency linked to the Brazilian Ministry of Education in charge of promoting high standards for post-graduate courses in Brazil). But I believe that after each obstacle is getting better. But for me I'm getting everything working fine and had no problems with my stay, only the contact actually takes too long to have CAPES answers.

      He also talked about the future of Brazil stand on our shoulders. What we learn outside of Brazil will make our country better. And what we do here defines the "face of Brazil" to the world.    Toda quarta-feira eu escrevo em um blog chamado "Rua Balsa das 10" que fala sobre Educação Popular, poesia, saúde, música... É um espaço em que dividimos nossas ideias, opiniões, ideais. Hoje, eu escrevi um texto sobre a Liga de Educação em Saúde que é um projeto que eu criei em 2010 com alguns colegas da medicina. Segue um pequeno curta-metragem que fala sobre o projeto: 

 Distância

Caminho entre Dublin e Galway, lembra-me o caminho para a Barra

     Sempre acreditei que a distância aguça os sentidos. Agora vivendo do outro lado do Atlântico percebo que faço parte de uma pequena cidade do interior irlandês, assim como ela faz parte de mim.

      Porém, com meu coração que é do mundo, mas também brasileiro visito a comunidade da Barra repetidamente, caminho pelo Hospital Universitário e vou as reuniões da Liga de Educação em Saúde contando as histórias que vivi para as pessoas daqui. 

     A alma pescadora vê no mar de Galway os barcos da comunidade da Barra no Brasil. E penso com carinho nas pessoas especiais que mesmo distantes também fazem parte de mim. E assim vamos virando essa misturança de experiências, sabe aquela "alma de mundo"? Em algum momento a costura das vivências se tornou mais intensa que a sutura do corpo, aprendo sobre gente, não apenas sobre corpos.

     O ar frio entra nas minhas narinas e a lua no céu não parece tão distante das pessoas queridas. Toco com palavras a comunidade e mesmo distante as artesãs continuam a me ensinar.

   Every Wednesday I've been writing in a blog with the name "Rua Balsa das 10" that talks about Popular Education (you cold see more here), poetry, health, music... It's a space that we could share our ideas, opinions, ideals. Today, I wrote a text about League of Health Education that is a project that me and other medicine students created in 2010. Here you could see a short film about the project:  

 Distance

Way between Dublin and Galway, reminds me the way to Barra's Community

     Always believed that the distance sharpens the senses. Now, living on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean I perceive that I am part of a small town Irish interior, as it is part of me.

      However, with my heart that is of the world, but also Brazilian I have been visiting the Barra's Community repeatedly, passing by University Hospital and'll in the meetings of the League of Health Education telling stories about what we leave in Brazil.

      My fisherman soul sees at sea boats from Galway like the community of Barra in Brazil. And I think fondly the special people that even distant also part of me. And so we are going to mix turning this experience, you know that "the soul of the world"? At some point the stitching of experiences became more intense than the suture body, learn about people, not just about bodies.

   The cold air enters in my nostrils and the moon in the sky does not seem so far from loved ones. I touch with words the community and even distant the artisans continue to teach me.
