Trip Italy IV: Pisa

        Chegando no último dia de viagem saímos de trem de Genova e fomos para Pisa. Com apenas quatro horas para conhecer o lugar, comer e depois ir para o aeroporto para voltar para Dublin. Conseguimos ver a torre de Pisa e ir na Duomo di Pisa que é uma catedral dedicada a Virgem Maria, certamente um lugar encantador. A sensação de estar conhecendo um daqueles lugares que você via no Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum e me lembrei de um episódio em específico que passava a Torre de Pisa no desenho animado (em 3min 8 seg no vídeo).

          E assim de infância, Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum e Itália conheci a "torre torta" que eu imaginava quando era pequena e pensava como é que ela ficava em pé. Conhecendo a história descobri que ela começou a ser construída em 1173 e a obra foi realizada em três etapas, ficando pronta depois de 177 anos. A torre já começou a inclinar no começo com um problema na sua fundação o solo não era bom e ficou quase um século parada devido as guerras que a Itália estava envolvida, isso deu tempo para o solo assentar e a obra prosseguir.

             Existe um complexo de museus em torno da torre e da Catedral, talvez precisa de um dia inteiro ou até dois para visitar tudo. Essa foi a vista do avião na saída do aeroporto.

          Para terminar esta trip, decidi colocar uma música que eu fiquei escutando repetidas vezes durante a viagem no trem. É uma música brasileira "Trem do Pantanal":

Trip Italy IV: Pisa

        On the last day trip we left the train and went from Genoa to Pisa. With only four hours to see the place, eat and then go to the airport to return to Dublin. We could see the tower of Pisa and the Duomo di Pisa go which is a cathedral dedicated to the Virgin Mary, certainly a lovely place. The feeling of knowing one of those places you saw in Castle Ra-Tim-Bum (a children's program of great success in the 90s) and I remembered a specific episode that appeared in the Tower of Pisa in animated feature (in 3min 8 sec in the video).

         So with childhood, Castle Ra-Tim-Bum and Italy I met "the crooked tower" I imagined when I was little and thought how she stood up. Knowing the story I found out she started being built in 1173 and the work was performed in three steps, getting ready after 177 years. The tower had started to droop a with a problem in the beginning with its founding in the soil was not good and was stoppeda lot of times because of the war that Italy was involved, it gave time for the soil to settle and work continue.

To end this trip, I decided to put a song I was listening repeatedly while traveling on the train. It's a Brazilian song "Pantanal Train" (free translation):

Trip Italy III: Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre

       Seguindo a Trip com a Sociedade Italiana, eu estava com vontade de escrever sobre Cinque Terre, certamente a parte da viagem que eu mais gostei. É o tipo de lugar que você volta com as energias renovadas. O cheiro do mar o sol e a arquitetura da natureza. O conjunto de cidades italianas chamadas "Cique Terre" ficam próximas a Genova, o bilhete custa 7,50 € fomos direto para Riomaggiore a "primeira" das  cinco terras.

     

       Se você olhar para as cidades, você pensa que é quase impossível que existam as pequenas "Cinco Terras" devido a arquitetura acidentada da costa dessa região na Itália. Ao longo do tempo as pessoas foram construíndo cuidadosamente casas, e terraços na costa, e é possível ver alguns carros por lá, mas eles tem que chegar pelo mar, porque o único transporte possível para Cinque Terre é o trem ou o mar. As "Cinco terras" constituem nas cidades: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza e Monterosso. Nos começamos de Rimaggiore e seguimos de estação em estação parando em ordem em cada uma das cidades.

       Aliás tudo era muito colorido contrastado com a beleza natural do lugar. Quando você chegava na cidade de trem tinha que cruzar alguns túneis e escadarias nos quais era possível encontrar músicos, vitrais e mosaicos.

               Cinque Terre é uma mistura de cores que você nota logo quando chega, e descobri que no passado os pescadores saiam de casa e queriam encontrar suas casas enquanto trabalhavam no mar. Apesar de hoje existir pouca pesca na região eles continuaram com a tradição de manter as casas coloridas.

                Além das cores, é muito presente o artesanato local na região. E entrando em uma dessas pequenas lojas encontrei uma dessas imagens que fica gravada na memória. Uma senhora tentando arrumar um relógio em meio a vários pratos de cerâmica pintados a mão. Uma dessas belezas únicas que passam pelos nossos olhos.

            No final do dia fomos brindados com um belíssimo por do sol. Aos poucos o colorido de Cinque Terre foi ficando escuro, iluminado pela eletricidade e pela lua.

       Following the Trip with the Italian Society, I was eager to write about Cinque Terre, certainly the part of the trip that I liked the most. It's the kind of place you come back with renewed energy. The smell of the sea the sun and the architecture of nature. The number of Italian cities called "Cique Terre" are near Genova, and ticket costs € 7.50 for all the day and Riomaggiore  was my first of the "five lands".

     

       If you look at the cities, you think it is almost impossible that there are the "Five Lands" because of the rugged coast architecture of this region in Italy. Over time people have been carefully constructing houses and terraces on the coast, and you can see some cars there, but they must arrive by sea, because the only possible transportation to Cinque Terre is by train or sea. The "Five Lands" are: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. We started in the Rimaggiore and we stopped station to station stopping in order in each of the cities.

       Everything was very colorful and contrasted with the natural beauty of the place. When you arrived in town by train you had to cross some tunnels and staircases where it was possible to find musicians, stained glass and mosaics.

            Cinque Terre is a mixture of colors that you find out immediately when you arrives, it i because in the past the fishermen wanted to leave home and find their homes while working at sea. Although today there is little fishing in the region, but they continued with the tradition of keeping the houses colored.

        Besides the colors, have very local handicrafts in the region. And going into one of those small shops I founded one of those images that will be etched in memory. A lady trying to fix a watch in the midst of several ceramic plates hand painted. One of these unique beauties who pass by our eyes.

           At the end of the day we were presented with a beautiful sunset. Gradually the colorful of Cinque Terre was getting dark, lighted by electricity and the moon.

         Começamos o segundo dia de trip acordando cedo e tomando café para partir para Genova de trem. Estava mais preparada para Genova, tinha baixado vários mapas turísticos, mapas offline, e um aplicativo para o celular chamado “Genova Tour” que ajudou bastante. Passei o tempo do trem organizando isso tudo. Pegamos o Trenitalia para fazer o trajeto Turim (estação Porta Nuova) para Genova (estação Piazza Principe), esse trem custou 12,20 € .

        Era a minha primeira vez andando de trem, tirando os trens de parques de diversões. Estava encantada com o trilho, com a paisagem que vinha surgindo rapidamente na minha frente. E levemente incomodada com a diferença de pressão no ouvido, afinal estávamos indo para perto do mar. A primeira providência ao chegar em Genova foi ir até o Hostel que era longe o Ostello di Genova, ficamos em um quarto para 8 pessoas, foi tranquilo até, alguns incômodos na madrugada mas no mais tudo bem. O Hostel ficava bem longe do centro, mas valia a pena pela visão bonita. Para ir e voltar do Hostel tivemos que usar a linha de ônibus número 40 ou 640 da AMT Genova, compramos o bilhete para o dia inteiro (para cinco pessoas 18 €).  A ideia inicial era ir no Acquario de Genova (mapa: 1) , mas acabamos demorando muito tempo para ir até o hostel e voltar e o Acquario custava 24 € por pessoa e teríamos apenas 2 horas para um passeio que me parecia precisar de mais tempo, então com um bom mapa em mãos decidimos ir visitar os principais (e que nos interessavam) pontos turísticos de Genova.

        Começamos procurando o caminho da praça central Piazza de Ferrari ai já passamos pela Cattedrale S. Lorenzo (mapa: 2)   construída no século XII/XVI e dá para notar claramente a influência muçulmana na estrutura, com os arcos islâmicos lembrando muito a Mesquita de Córdova na Andaluzia, Espanha. Tentamos ir no Palazzo Ducale (mapa: 3) construído no século XIC/XVIII que tinha uma exposição do Edvard Munch (o pintor do famoso quadro “O grito”), mas por pouco tempo acabamos não entrando.

         Seguimos o tour na Pizzza de Ferrari (mapa: 4) que tem o Palazzo dela Borzza de um lado e o Palazzo dela Regiane, o lugar é muito bonito e tem também uma estátua do Garibaldi, aliás em tinha uma homenagem a Garibaldi em Turim, Genova e Pisa. Nessa praça que tem a famosa fonte que simboliza a cidade. Passamos também no teatro Carlo Felice que é um teatro de ópera e depois fomos ao encontro da casa do Cristóvão Colombo (mapa: 5), coloquei na cabeça que queria conhecer esse lugar, afinal ele “descobriu” as Américas, mas fiquei desapontada com a casinha. Ele nasceu em Genova, foi abençoado antes de partir para a América em Galway, descobriu as Américas e morreu em Valladolid na Espanha – uma globalização no século XIV.

         Também fomos no Portão e na torre “Porta Soprana”  (mapa: 5) construída no século XII e que ajudava a proteger Genova no passado. Depois passamos na igreja S. Maria Assunta di Carignano (mapa: 6) e quando entramos nela estava acontecendo uma missa. Sentamos um pouco e participamos da missa, aproveitando para conhecer um pouco da acústica do passado, onde as igrejas eram devidamente projetadas para projetar a voz dos padres durante as missas.

           Antes de irmos jantar a famosa pizza italiana fomos na Piazza della Vittoria onde fica o Arco Dei Caduti ou Arco della Vittoria (mapa: 7) construído no século XX após uma reurbanização e reestruturação da cidade de Genova. Voltamos cansados do Hostel, aproveitei para olhar o céu um pouquinho e acabei ajudando uma senhora deficiente a conseguir se arrumar para dormir, fiquei quase duas horas ajudando-a. Fica na lista para algum dia voltar para ver o Acquario, certamente.

Trip Italy I: Genoa

         We started the second day of the trip waking up early and having coffee to go to Genova train. I was more prepared to Genova, had downloaded several tourist maps, offline maps and an app for the phone called "Genova Tour" that helped. I spent time organizing it all train. We took the Trenitalia path to Turin (Porta Nuova station) to Genova (Piazza Principe station), this train cost € 12.20.

         It was my first time on the train, taking out the trains amusement parks. I  delighted with the rail, with the landscape that had rapidly emerging in front of me. And slightly disturbed by the difference of pressure in the ear, because we were going near the sea. The first thing to arrive in Genoa was to go to the Hostel Ostello di Genova which was so far, we  stayed in a room for 8 people, it was quiet until some troublesome at dawn but in the fine. The hostel was far from downtown, but worth it for the beautiful view. To go back to the hostel and had to use the bus line number 40 or 640 AMT Genova, bought the ticket for the whole day (for five people € 18). The initial idea was to go the Aquarium of Genova (map 1), but ended up taking a long time to go back to the hostel and Aquarium and cost € 24 per person and we would have only 2 hours for a ride that seemed to need more time, then with a good map in hand we decided to go visit the main (and interested in) sights of Genoa.

         We started looking for the path of the central square Piazza de Ferrari we passed by Cattedrale S. Lorenzo (map 2) built in the twelfth / sixteenth century and you can clearly see the Muslim influence in the structure, with Islamic arches resembling very Mosque of Cordoba in Andalucia, Spain. We try to go at the Palazzo Ducale (map 3) built in the XIV / XVIII century that had an exhibition of Edvard Munch (painter's famous painting "The Scream"), but not for long just not coming.

        We followed the tour in Pizzza Ferrari (map 4) that it has the Palazzo Borzza on one side and her Regiane Palazzo, the place is beautiful and also has a statue of Garibaldi, was in fact a tribute to Garibaldi in Turin, Genova and Pisa. In this square which has the famous fountain symbolizing the city. We also went into the theater Carlo Felice is an opera house and then went to the meeting of the house of Christopher Columbus (map 5), put in my head that I wanted to know this place, after he "discovered" the Americas, but was disappointed with the household. He was born in Genoa, was blessed before leaving for America in Galway, discovered the Americas and died in Valladolid in Spain - a globalization in the fourteenth century.

         We also went in the gate and tower "Medieval Gates" (map 5) built in the twelfth century and helped protect Genova in the past. After passed the church S. Maria Assunta di Carignano (map 6) and when we walked in it was going on a mass. We sat for a while and attended Mass, taking the opportunity to learn a little about the acoustic of the past, where the churches were properly designed to project the voice of priests during Masses.

          Before going to dinner we were famous Italian pizza in Piazza della Vittoria where is the Arco Dei Caduti or Arco della Vittoria (map 7) built in the twentieth century after a restructuring and redevelopment of the city of Genova. We returned to the hostel tired, I used to look at the sky a little bit and just helping the a disabled woman to getting ready for bed, was almost two hours helping her. Is on the list to someday return to see the Aquarium, certainly.
